Notice re Representative Members Washington Village Memorial Hall Management Committee

We are currently engaged in updating the current Trust Deed which governs the Village Hall as it is considerably out of date.  Amongst other things, the current Deed calls for representatives from the following organisations – many of which we believe no longer exist, and/or no longer use the Village Hall as a meeting place.  Before we can submit any changes to this list to the Charity Commission we have to ‘make all reasonable efforts to make contact with these organisations to ask their permission to remove them from the list’.   We therefore call for anyone involved with the following organisations to make contact with  the Washington Village Memorial Hall Secretary, Pat O’Shea, tel: 01243-551966 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. WELCOME TO WASHINGTON,  a small village nestling gently in the side of the South Downs watched over by  Chanctonbury Ring .  The ‘Ring’ is not named after the clump of trees planted in 1760 by Charles Goring (and which subsequently suffered severe damage in the storm of 1987) but for the circular ditch and embankment that was built by the ‘Ancient Britons’.

Today Washington has a thriving community with a flourishing first school, church, and of course village pub.  Many visitors are attracted to Washington as it lies along the South Downs Way and the walks and views are spectacular.
