THE PARISH CHURCH - ST MARY’S WASHINGTON
The Street, Washington, RH20 4AS

church2There has been a church on this site since around 1174. The present day Church was almost totally rebuilt in 1866, although the Tudor tower is still original. Bells are still rung regularly in the tower on Sunday’s with a practice every Tuesday evening. Until recently Frank Brooks was the Bell Ringing Captain, but he decided to hand over the captaincy to Christine Butterfield when he reached 96 years of age. Frank is still going strong and ringing the bells with the rest of the team on Sundays.
